Broke Rd Intersection at Pokolbin is a major dual roundabout at Pokolbin in the winery region of the Hunter Valley at the intersection of Broke & McDonald nears the Hunter Valley Gardens.
This intersection is the major traffic thoroughfare for the winery region and the large number of tourists visiting the region plus the commercial traffic for the wineries. The old dual ‘T’ intersection was a major traffic hazard and difficult for people to use.
Need to keep traffic flowing through this hub whilst the upgrade project was undertaken.
Conventional reinforcement approaches would have entailed the cutting and placing of reinforcing mesh sheets, taking longer and requiring ever-changing traffic management strategies.
